FAMILY ORIGIN

Laoag City Olongapo City

At home, I grew up with Filipino values—respect for elders, shared meals, stories in Tagalog—while at school I was just ‘American.’ Growing up in a predominantly white town, I rarely saw my culture reflected in my surroundings, and most of my close friends and teachers were white. It wasn’t until college, when I joined a Filipino student organization and began attending cultural events, that I truly felt seen. That experience transformed my appreciation for my heritage—it was both beautiful and complex, and ultimately grounding.

EDUCATION

BA Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing  Washington State University +  Argosy University

ACCOLADES

MAGNA CUM LAUDE

My favorite Filipino childhood memory is my mom's cooking! I have so many memories of birthdays and holidays hosted at our house. My mom would spend hours in the kitchen cooking meals for our close family and friends.

I always identify with Filipino culture in your everyday life through our cuisine. We're seeing more and more Filipino restaurants in our area, but even if I don’t eat Filipino food every day, it is still my top cultural anchor. Eating our cuisine can instantly spark memories, feelings of comfort, and always a sense of home.
