Being Filipino means carrying a deep appreciation for family and community. Those values have shaped how I approach relationships, work, and life. It also means honoring the sacrifices of the generations before me—my parents—many of whom worked hard to create better opportunities for their families.

America is a place where many cultures come together, and I believe our differences make our communities stronger. I hope to always represent my culture with pride, kindness, and integrity.

The part of my heritage that I hope never gets lost is our deep sense of family and community. In the Filipino culture, we believe that family extends beyond just our immediate relatives. That sense of belonging, respect, and caring for one another is something I hope future generations continue to value. I also hope that we never lose the Filipino spirit of resilience, hospitality, and generosity. Filipinos have an incredible ability to find hope through challenges, welcome others with kindness, and give even when they have little. Those qualities are the heart of who we are.

My favorite Filipino childhood memories are the backyard barbecues. It was always the best of times to be surrounded by family and friends, with so much food, music, and games.
