It means everything to be Filipino here in America, especially in Seattle. There is such a big community here, and it feels great to know that we’re being represented in this space. Even in a diverse country like this one, I still feel seen, and I still feel like our culture is seen.

I’m inspired by the efforts of people in this world who don’t have the opportunities I’ve been blessed with. When I play soccer, I sometimes get nervous and feel pressure—then I think about families who don’t even have a home or food to put on the table. That’s real pressure. Remembering that inspires me to be free and find joy in everything I do.
Growing up, it was always about family. So, I like to treat my people like family and treat others with kindness and respect. I don’t judge people; instead, I try to allow them to feel like themselves around me.
